Wow, what a great time that was. Thank you so much to all of you who came out and celebrated with us at the High Noon on Saturday night. We can’t overstate how much it meant to us to have such a wonderful crowd for our CD release party. We’re playing again next weekend, and this time it is in support of one of our favorite local charities, the Madison Area Music Association. This organization raises money to get instruments into the hands of needy kids, and they are having their annual FREE BEER fundraiser and raffle at the Great Dane Pub downtown. Music runs from 1 to 5, and we’ll be sharing the stage with Ida Jo & Scott Lamps, as well as the Family Business. We’ll be playing from 2:30 to 3:30, so stop by, have a beer, and win stuff. The MAMAs other function is to recognize local musicians, and voting is now open for their annual awards. You can vote here, and we are nominated in a number of different categories. From the Still was not released in time to be in this year’s nominations, but we are there in the following categories:

CD Release party Saturday night!

Well, folks, it’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. ”From the Still” is done and ready to go. We are so excited to be releasing this record, and we hope you can all join us for our CD release party this Saturday night, February 9. The show is at the High Noon Saloon, and we are very happy to have Adria Ramos and Mark Croft opening the show for us. It will be a great night of music, starting at 5:30. The folks at the High Noon have promised us happy hour drink specials as well, just in case the music wasn’t reason enough to get you there. The new CD is getting some positive press – check out these reviews from Local Sounds and Dane101.com. Help us spread the word, and see you Saturday!

Hello friends – exciting times here on the farm. The new CDs just arrived, and we are busy putting together packages for all you pledgers out there who helped fund the album. You should be receiving your copy of “From the Still” and all your extra exclusives very soon. In the meantime, we are excited about getting some attention locally in advance of the CD release party on February 9. The party starts at 5:30 at the High Noon Saloon, and Adria Ramos and Mark Croft will open the show. But before that, this Sunday night you can hear a half hour performance and interview with Stephanie Elkins on Simply Folk. Simply Folk airs on Wisconsin Public Radio every Friday night at 5:00, and our segment will be on in the 7:00 hour. If you’re out of state, you can stream the show live on wpr.org. There will also be a segment with Mark Croft, so it’s a good CD release party preview. In addition to that, we just recorded a half hour live performance for the 105.5 Triple M show, “Live from Studio M.” That performance is also going to be on the air this Sunday, at 9:0o AM and 8:00 PM. You can stream that one on line as well. So whatever you’ve got going on this Sunday, we can provide the sound track. Lastly, we are happy to announce that WORT has asked to sponsor our CD release show. That means you will be able to win free tickets from them the week before the show. Seeing The Whiskey Farm for free! And there are a couple ways you can do that. Next Wednesday, we will be in the studio at 105.5 Triple M recording one of their Live from Studio M sessions. It’s a great little room and a chance to see the band in a very different way. Triple M is currently giving away a limited number of tickets to be part of the taping of the show. You can listen to Jonathan and Kitty in the morning to win, and you can else enter to win tickets on their website. You also have a chance to win tickets to the CD release party at the High Noon Saloon on February 9. WORT has decided to sponsor the show, and they will be giving away tickets all week leading up to that Saturday. One way or another, we hope you come celebrate with us that night. We are done with the mastering, and now we are just taking a couple days to listen through everything a few times to make sure we are 100% happy with the final product. Then we finish up the artwork and send everything off for production. You have until Friday to pre-order the album, and you will get your free downloads almost immediately. Mixing!

We were in the studio this morning finishing up the mixes, and everything went great! We are getting closer and closer, and we should have mastered tracks by the end of the year. If you pledged to support this album, you’ll be able to download it during the first week of January. Physical CDs and other exclusives will go out a couple weeks later, and don’t forget to mark your calendar for our CD release party on February 9! It will be at the High Noon Saloon, with Mark Croft opening the show at 6:00. We hope you come celebrate with us!

Studio Update

It’s been a long, fun, and sometimes humbling process, but we are finally done with the recording phase of this project. The songs have evolved a bit while in the studio, especially the multi-part vocal lines, and we are excited about the direction things are going. The next step is to mix and master the tracks, which we hope to have done by the end of December. Those of you who have so generously invested in this project will get your pre-release some time in January, and the official release will be some time in February. If you are still interested in pre-ordering, you can do that until the end of the year. Once this record is out, we’ll be setting up some live shows, and we’ll have a couple of radio appearances in the run-up to the release as well. We’ll keep you posted, and thanks for listening.

We can not overstate how grateful we are to all of you who contributed to our PledgeMusic campaign. Thanks to your generosity, we now have the funding we need to make this new album. We have been to the studio a few times already, and the recording is going really well so far. We’re excited to be getting some of these songs we have been playing for a while now out on a record, and we’ve got a couple new surprises in store for you as well. If you are interested in pre-ordering the album and having it delivered to your door before the release date, you can do that here. In the meantime, we will be taking a couple months mostly off from live performances to get this project done, and then we’ll be back in action. The timetable is flexible, but it looks like we’ll have the recording done by the end of the year, with a CD release event to be scheduled some time in January or February.
